Gwalior, Gwalior: Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) is ready to return for its latest season, which will start with matches at Srimanta Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Shankarpur, Gwalior from June 12. Seeing the closing of the rising monsoon and Indian Premier League (IPL) in Indore, Madhya Pradesh League has been transferred from Indore. Interestingly, Gwalior also hosted the inaugural edition of MPL last year, making it a well-known place for players and organizers. Originally, the league was to begin on 27 May in Indore, while the IPL was already concluded on 25 May.
A release issued by the MPP said that this men’s competition organized by Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) under the aegis of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association included five teams in the previous season, which has been increased to seven, including teams from Bundelkhand and Chambal region.
Speaking about the Madhya Pradesh League, Chairman Mahan Aaryman Scindia said, “Gwalior holds a special place in the hearts of our players and fans, and we are thrilled to come back here. With the onset of two new men’s teams and our first women’s league, we have pride in expanding opportunities for talents in Madhya Pradesh.” It is a pleasure that all preparations for the change of venue have been successfully completed.
“With the new beginning date is fixed, we expect an exciting and uninterrupted tournament for players and fans.” Jersey’s unveiling ceremony will also be held in Gwalior on 27 May. This season will begin the Women’s Cricket League, which will be held as well as men’s matches. Three teams will participate in the women’s competition, one of which will represent the capital Bhopal.
