Waldemar Anton will return to the German national team for the UEFA Nations League fixtures in June, according to Sky Germany.

After ending the season on a high with Borussia Dortmund, Waldemar Anton is set to return to the German national team.

That’s according to Sky Germany, who reports that the Dortmund defender will be included in the squad for the UEFA Nations League Final Four in June.

With Nico Schlotterbeck and Antonio Rüdiger both sidelined through injury, Anton could even be in line to start against Portugal, partnering Jonathan Tah at the heart of defence.

Anton has made seven appearances for Germany under Julian Nagelsmann, but was left out of the squad for the quarter-final win over Italy in March.

The report adds that Anton’s Dortmund teammates Pascal Groß and Karim Adeyemi are also certain to be in the squad, while Felix Nmecha is said to have “good chances” of being included.

Niklas Süle, meanwhile, is seen as a potential surprise call-up.
