Michael McStay , a British actor best remembered for his performances in Doctor Who and No Hiding Place , has died. He was 92.
On May 20, a spokesperson for the late actor posted a statement on Facebook, announcing his death.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael McStay, an actor of the highest standing, talented writer and family man," according to a statement. "It was an honour to know Mike. RIP."
According to The Daily Mail, McStay "went in peace" on May 18 when he died in his sleep after lunch with his children.
McStay rose to prominence after playing Sergeant Perryman in the ITV detective series No Hiding Place, where he featured in over 80 episodes.
He also appeared in two episodes of BBC 's Doctor Who, portraying Derek Moberley.
Despite his brief appearance, McStay expressed gratitude to the popular show's fans during a May 2024 interview on the Doctor Who: Toby Hadoke's Time Travels podcast.
"The type of fans you acquire on a show like Doctor Who become friends. They want to like you and the show. "It's a fantastic feeling," he stated at the time. "It's a great bunch of people to be a part of in a way."
The late star also appeared in films such as Robbery (1967) and The Stick Up (1977).
He appeared in The Black Arrow, Park Ranger, Spy at Evening, EastEnders, and Ted and Alice.
During the podcast episode, McStay spoke about having staying power in the entertainment world, adding, "You have to want to do it." I've always wanted to do this. And I made some terrific friends along the road who helped me."


McStay made his final on-screen appearance in the ITV series Coronation Street , when he replaced John Woodvine as Alan Hoyle in 2011.
