Indian cinema had a proud moment on the global stage as Neeraj Ghaywan ’s ‘ Homebound ’ premiered at the prestigious Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival.


9-minute standing ovation
The film, featuring Janhvi Kapoor , Ishaan Khatter , and Vishal Jethwa in pivotal roles, received a thunderous 9-minute standing ovation from the international audience. It was the only Indian feature film to be screened at the 2025 edition, making it a landmark occasion.

Tears, hugs, and heartfelt gratitude

The rousing response left the entire team visibly emotional. As the applause continued, Ishaan Khatter was seen beaming, clapping, and embracing co-star Vishal Jethwa in a warm hug.

Voices of “Bravo” heard all over

Director Neeraj Ghaywan soon joined in, and together they called Janhvi Kapoor into a heartfelt group hug. The camaraderie and emotion between the lead actors and director captured the sincerity of the moment. Watching from behind, producer Karan Johar was seen wiping away tears, deeply moved by the film’s reception.
Also spotted in the audience were Janhvi’s sister Khushi Kapoor and her boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya, enthusiastically clapping as voices of “Bravo” echoed through the auditorium.
