According to Dimsum Dailythe photos were taken during Huang’s school coming-of-age ceremony. The actress mentioned that she had borrowed the earrings from her mother.

The backlash on social media grew as netizens further uncovered images of Huang flaunting a lavish lifestyle, including a multi-million-yuan mansion and an extensive collection of expensive jewelry.

Sources who claim to be close to her family have alleged that Huang’s father Yang Wei formerly held government positions in Ya’an city, Sichuan Province. He worked with the Ya’an Urban Management Enforcement Team in 2011 before moving to the city’s Investment Promotion Bureau in 2015, resigning from his post in 2017 to pursue business ventures in Shenzhen.

According to Qianjiang Evening Newsafter leaving his civil servant position, Yang established a film company named after his daughter in 2018. He later became the legal representative of a company in the beauty products industry. On May 14, three days after the controversy surrounding Huang’s earrings, he stepped down as the legal representative of the company and withdrew as a shareholder.

Last week, the Ya’an Discipline Inspection Committee announced that the relevant authorities are investigating the case, and Yang was required to clarify his work process. According to authorities, Yang stated that the earrings his daughter wore were not authentic, and the family had sealed and stored them for inspection. He further emphasized that during his tenure, he did not violate any regulations or laws, nor did he embezzle any donation funds meant for the reconstruction of Ya’an after the earthquake.

“If anyone discovers any signs of violation, they may report it,” he said. “I will actively cooperate with the investigation and bear all consequences.”

Despite his denial, public scrutiny continues to mount. Chinese media have spotlighted the issue, emphasizing that many social media users have called for greater transparency regarding the family’s finances.

At 18, Huang debuted as an actress in 2017. Her notable works include major projects alongside A-list stars, such as the TV series “Princess Agents” starring Shawn Dou and Zhao Liying, “Nirvana in Fire Season 2: The Wind Blows in Chang Lin” featuring Huang Xiaoming, and “Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace” with Zhou Xun and Wallace Huo.
