Singer Sonu Nigam recently made it clear on social media that he has no official X (former Twitter) account. He made this statement in the context of the screenshot of an account, which was understood by him. The account had commented on a recent controversy against Karnataka BJP MP Tejashwi Surya, in which a bank manager refused to talk in Kannada.
Sonu expressed his disappointment on Instagram and wrote that have you gone mad? How many times have I said that I am not on Twitter? He also said that such misinformation can create confusion among his fans and can endanger the safety of his family.
This is not the first time Sonu Nigam has to clarify that his X account is not his. In February too, he posted a screenshot of an account in which he was told his account. He wrote that such a fake account could threaten him and his family’s life. He demanded action in this matter from the media and administration.
As far as the account called ‘Sonu Nigam Singh’ is concerned, its owner posted on X in June last year that he is not working in the name of the singer, but it is his birth name and he is a criminal lawyer from Bihar. However, due to this account, Sonu Nigam has faced controversies many times.
The singer has appealed to his fans to report and block such fake accounts, so that their names are not misused. He also said that he is not active on social media and such fake accounts can threaten the security of his family.
The case has once again sparked a debate on the increasing cases of fake accounts and their impact on social media. Experts believe that social media platforms should take strict steps against such fake accounts, so that the safety of users can be ensured.
