Joe Root has had an incredible run in Test cricket for the past several years. On Thursday, in the four-day Test match against Zimbabwe, the former England captain became the quickest player to reach 13,000 runs in Test cricket. He reached this milestone while scoring 34 runs, needing only 153 innings to achieve the mark.

In achieving this record, Root went past previous record-holder South African legend Jacques Kallis, who needed 159 matches to reach the mark. Looking at Indian players, Rahul Dravid needed 160 matches to achieve 13,000 runs, while Sachin Tendulkar needed 163. But for innings, Root needed the most to get to the mark.

During the match against Zimbabwe, England scored 498/3 in 88 overs. Zak Crawley scored 124, Ben Duckett scored 140, and Ollie Pope scored 169 not out. It is bad news for India to see Root find his form again. India will be made to look weak in a five-Test series against England starting June 20 at Headingley. To make matters worse, India has left out important players - Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and R Ashwin.
