The first “Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend,” a historic celebration of the nation’s rich legacy, will be held in New York City by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). This immersive weekend, which will take place from September 12–14, 2025, will present India’s finest traditions, music, theater, fashion, and food to a worldwide audience.
The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation, India’s greatest theatrical performance, will have its much-awaited US debut on September 12 at the David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, marking the start of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend. This presentation is a magnificent homage to India’s past, present, and future that spans the nation’s history from 5000 BC till its independence in 1947 by fusing dance, art, fashion, and music.
The Great Indian Musical is a theatrical spectacle unlike any other, with a cast of more than 100 actors, lavish costumes, and enormous scenery. Feroz Abbas Khan is the creator and director of the play, which is India’s biggest musical and has a cast of outstanding Indian performers as well as a staff that has won Tony and Emmy awards. Great musicians like Ajay-Atul (music), Mayuri Upadhya, Vaibhavi Merchant, and Samir & Arsh Tanna (choreography) will collaborate on this high-profile production. Leading fashion designer Manish Malhotra will also create outfits for the visual extravaganza. There will only be five performances of the show.
An invite-only red carpet event called the “Grand Swagat” (Grand Welcome) will kick off the opening night on September 12 and include the “Swadesh Fashion Show Curated by Manish Malhotra,” which will highlight India’s renowned traditional weaves and talented craftspeople. Vikas Khanna, a Michelin-starred chef, will provide a unique presentation of Indian cuisines and flavors from ancient to current times over the evening. Soon, reservations will be available for the NMACC India Weekend in New York City.
Founder and Chairperson Mrs. Nita Ambani spoke during the event, saying, “We are excited to introduce the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend to New York City for the first time! India’s cultural heritage, including its art, crafts, music, dance, fashion, and cuisine, is intended to be celebrated globally. Our goal at NMACC has always been to bring the finest of India to the world and the best of the world to India. This unique weekend, which celebrates the spirit of India on one of the most famous platforms in the world—Lincoln Center—marks the beginning of that journey. Sharing our rich history and customs with New York City and the rest of the globe excites me.
Bhajans, chanting sessions, and Gita readings will kick off each festival morning in a calm manner, fostering introspection and tranquility throughout the day. While Shiamak Davar and his colleagues will inject energy and rhythm with their distinctive Bollywood Dance Workshops, renowned health expert Eddie Stern will lead participants in Daily Yoga Workshops. Some of India’s most well-known musicians, such as Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, and other esteemed maestros, will play musically throughout the event on the 12th and 13th.
A highlight will be Parthiv Gohil and his team’s live Garba and Dandiya Raas performance, which will be joined by a local dance ensemble. On the last day, listeners will be mesmerized by Rishab Sharma’s distinctive blend of modern and classical music. The festival will end with a lively “Phoolon Ki Holi,” a happy, flower-filled celebration, and a DJ set with a Retro Nights theme to keep the fun going.
From September 12–14, Damrosch Park will host the NMACC India Weekend, which will include an exhilarating and captivating “Great Indian Bazaar.” The best of Indian design and textiles, rich flavors, and dance, yoga, and music will all be presented to the guests.
