IPO Race Intensifies: By May 2025 many companies file draft papers in SEBI

News India Live, Digital Desk: IPO Race Intensifies: Despite the ongoing instability in the global market, around 90 companies have submitted draft Red Hring Herring Prospects (DRHP) to the Securities and Exchange Board of India between January and May 2025, indicating constant interest in becoming public.

Received from SEBI website The data shows that the most activity was observed in January, when 28 companies filed draft papers, followed by 15 in February, 11 in March, 24 in April and 12 in May so far 12 companies have managed to file draft papers.

The bounce in DRHP filing has come at a time when the actual number of early public output (IPO) coming in the market has been much lower than the same period last year.

Between January and May this year, only nine companies have started the mainboard segment, while more than 25 companies will join it in the same period in 2024.

this years IPO Notable names applying for include Canara HSBC Life Insurance, Canara Roboco Asset Management Company, Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers and Wevwork India.

The first step of filing DRHP is for companies seeking to raise funds through IPOs. The document has important information such as financial performance, business operations, risk and other revelations required by SEBI.

Although interest in IPO remains stable, the weak listing speed reflects widespread concerns arising from global uncertainties.

Indian equity markets have experienced significant ups and downs in 2025, which is influenced by geopolitical tension and tariff- measures, especially the United States.

Since the beginning of the year, the Sensex has given a return of 2.73 percent, while the Nifty has increased by about 3 percent – both reflect cautious optimism between the turbulent global atmosphere.

Meanwhile, according to a new report by GlobalData, the IPO saw a sharp jump in the bioformacular sector in 2024, which increased by 68.4 percent to $ 8.52 billion.

The report said that this year, a total of 50 IPOs were completed globally in the region, which is more than $ 5.06 billion in 2023, making it the strongest year for Biofarma IPO since 2021.
