People are concerned about how quickly AI is taking over the sector, particularly those who may lose their employment to the technology. Several well-known companies, like Google and Microsoft, have eliminated thousands of jobs in recent months in favor of AI. According to a recent story, one of these big corporations allegedly organized these layoffs directly in front of their workers.

The Impact of AI on Employment

This week, Bloomberg conducted a review of Microsoft’s recent layoffs of 6,000 employees, finding that software developers accounted for 40% of the job losses. When you learn that the corporation has urged this 40% of engineers to begin utilizing AI tools for coding more aggressively, however, things become much more frightening.

According to reports, Microsoft replaced the AI with engineers when the AI systems produced results comparable to those of a person, supposedly saving money on recruiting new staff.

A similar trend is mentioned in another piece from The Information, which discusses how Microsoft is making its programmers write 50% of their code using chatbots driven by OpenAI. The majority of these businesses are praising AI’s capabilities and its capacity to produce code for their goods and operations.

Microsoft seems to have followed the same bleak route that may now materialize in several other industries. The fear that AI would replace employment has subsided, according to experts, but examples like these show that the danger is real, particularly for those in industries where AI may be a useful tool.

AI systems are also aimed at the creative industry, and if their performance meets or exceeds current requirements, firms such as Adobe may be able to replace their staff with AI.

With models like Veo that can now create films with audio in the background using simple text cues, Google demonstrated its rapid advancements in AI at the I/O 2025 earlier this week. It is evident that no one is secure in the AI age, and instead of waiting to be supplanted by the technology, it is time for humans to live with it.
