Good news for students who recently received their Kerala Plus Two exam results and might be looking for another chance! The Kerala Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) has just announced the dates for the 2025 Plus Two SAY (Save A Year) exams. These crucial exams are scheduled to run from June 23rd to June 27th, 2025.

This SAY exam is a lifeline for students who didn’t quite get the results they hoped for in their main Class 12 exams. If you’re planning to apply, mark your calendars: the last day to get your application in is May 29th.

How do you apply?

It’s important to know that you can’t do this online. You’ll need to get the application form directly from your school. Once you’ve filled it out – don’t forget to paste a passport-sized photo and get it attested by your school principal – you’ll submit it back to your principal.

From there, your school principal takes over. They’ll handle the official registration for the SAY/Improvement exams, and you can expect to receive your admission tickets from them at least three days before the exams begin. Principals are also responsible for preparing all the necessary documentation and uploading student details to the department’s portal by the specified deadline.

Where will the exams be held?

The exams will take place at selected Higher Secondary Schools across Kerala, all schools in Lakshadweep, and one designated school in the Gulf region.

Who can apply?

If you unfortunately didn’t pass the main Kerala Second Year exam (meaning you scored below a D+ grade), you can apply for the SAY exam. You’ll need to register for all the subjects you didn’t pass.

There’s also an option for students who did pass (got a D+ or higher) but want a shot at improving their scores – that’s the Improvement exam. However, it’s worth noting that private compartmental candidates can’t apply for the Improvement exam.

Good to know: Your Continuous Evaluation (CE) and Practical Evaluation (PE) scores from the March exams will be carried over. If you didn’t do a practical evaluation before, you’ll get a chance this time. After the SAY exam results are out, you’ll receive a consolidated certificate that shows your scores from both the original exam and the re-examination.
