Preity Zinta, who co-owns the Punjab Kings, has taken legal action against her fellow directors, Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia, in a Chandigarh court. They’re all part of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company behind the IPL team. Zinta is disputing the validity of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) that happened on April 21, claiming it didn’t follow the right procedures according to the Companies Act, 2013, and other rules. She had expressed her concerns in an email on April 10, but says no one paid attention. Despite her and another director, Karan Paul, being at the meeting, she wants the court to rule that it was not valid. One of her main issues is the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as a director, which she and Paul did not approve.
In her lawsuit, Zinta is asking the court to stop Khanna from taking on the director role and to block any decisions made during that meeting. She also wants to prevent the company from holding any more meetings without both her and Karan Paul being there, and without Muneesh Khanna, until this case is settled.
Despite these legal troubles, Preity Zinta has been cheering on the Punjab Kings during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. It’s been a great year for the team. Led by Shreyas Iyer, the Punjab Kings have made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. With 17 points from 12 matches, they’re sitting in third place and hoping to secure a top-two spot. The next matches are against the Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on Saturday (May 24) and the Mumbai Indians on Monday (May 26) to finish the league.
