The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer, Akash Singh, opened up on his controversial celebration after dismissing Jos Buttler in the 64th match of (Indian Premier League) against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad. The left-arm pacer bowled a beautiful slower delivery, which completely deceived Buttler, pierced the bat-pad gap, and clipped the top of the middle stump.

A brilliant delivery led to an outrageous celebration from the left-arm pacer, who pulled off an aggressive gesture, similar to Digvesh Rathi’s celebrations when he dismisses batters. After the match, Akash was asked about the celebration during Lucknow's post-match video on their social media handle.

Singh opened up on the moment and claimed that his celebration was dedicated to Digvesh, who was banned from the match between LSG and GT in IPL 2025. Akash added that he had told 'his brother' Rathi that his absence from the match would not be felt, as he would perform the celebration on his behalf. Akash’s notebook celebration caught the attention of fans after dismissing Jos Buttler

"Woh dedicate mere bhai Rathi ko karna tha. Maine usko bola tha match se pehle ki tujhe ground mein miss hone nahin denge. Chinta mat kar. Tere liye parchi kaatenge (Wanted to dedicate it to my brother, Rathi. I told him before the match that you won't be missed in the ground. 'Don't worry. We'll do that celebration for you')," Akash said in the video posted by the Gujarat Titans.

Lucknow were impressive with both bat and ball against Gujarat

After not having a great time in the second half of the season, which led to their eventual elimination from IPL 2025, LSG performed well against GT in their backyard. Batting first, the visiting side posted 235 runs on the back of a terrific hundred from Mitchell Marsh and an unbeaten 57 from Nicholas Pooran.

Chasing a mammoth 236, GT consistently lost wickets. One of them was that of Buttler, who looked dangerous during his stay at the crease, scoring 33. It was Akash who dismissed the aggressive batter. He bowled three overs, conceded 29 runs, and claimed Buttler’s wicket in the 64th match of the season.
