Australian all-rounder  recently revealed that he receives nearly "150 messages every day" urging him to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although Cutting has not had an extensive international career with Australia, his unforgettable performance in the 2016 IPL final has registered his place in the hearts of cricket lovers.

He was representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2016 season, and delivered a match-winning performance in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He smashed a quickfire 39 off just 15 and picked up two crucial wickets, including that of Chris Gayle, which helped SRH secure the IPL title.

"If I load up my private messages on Instagram now, there'll be 150 every day saying, 'Can you make yourself available for the IPL as a replacement player?' for any team that's coming up against RCB," said Cutting as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“What was achieved that night… It's essentially one of the biggest sporting events in the world. To play for Australia was always a lifetime goal of mine, and I'm still disappointed I didn't get to play Test cricket. But that IPL final, for me, still ranks higher than everything else,” he added.

Cutting revealed that many cricket experts have praised him for his heroics against RCB in the 2016 IPL final. He also stated that since are still in search of their first IPL title, the significance of his contribution has only grown over time.

"For some reason, this year, social media has blown up far more. I think because the longer the years drag on and RCB still haven't won, the more important that night becomes for the Hyderabadis. The time has flown. Even at the time, I realised that was probably going to be the highlight of my career," said Cutting.

I wish it was not against Watson: Cutting

In the 2016 IPL final, Cutting came in to bat during the 16th over and single-handedly turned the game in SRH’s favour. He took the team’s total from 147 to 208 with a blistering knock, which included a 117-metre six off Shane Watson.

"I knew that he was bowling close to 140 kmph and some quick bowling like that on that sort of wicket was going to suit my game to a tee. I just wish it wasn't against Watto! I love the bloke. He was a hero of mine coming through the ranks. I still feel guilty about seeing it unfold like that against someone that I looked up to - and still do - as a hero on the field," said Cutting.
