Netflix has had to take this decision due to the changes happening in advanced video formats. The company is rolling out AV1, a high-efficiency codec that provides better video quality while using less data. The sad thing here is that the first-generation Fire TV device does not support AV1.

This decision of Netflix will affect users using Amazon Fire TV (2014), Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote (2016), and Fire TV Stick (2014). All these devices have become old and do not meet the needs of modern streaming platforms. This decision of Netflix is not surprising because Amazon also stopped giving software and security patch updates for these models many years ago.
