The IPL is well and truly in its business end but there are still plenty of surprises in store for the fans and tonight we have started off with one of those as Jitesh Sharma walked out for the coin toss for RCB alongside his opposition skipper Pat Cummins at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Eyebrows were raised immediately and rightly so from the loyal RCB fans who were told that their regular skipper Rajat Patidar is fit and available to play in this encounter against SRH. However, there was a change in the plans from the "designated" home side as Jitesh Sharma made his captaincy debut for RCB, a couple of weeks after he was supposed to as . Jitesh has captained once in the IPL before and that too was against SRH when he led PBKS in 2024 in which the result was not in his favor.

Relax RCB fans, all is not doom and gloom for you! Even though Rajat Patidar did not come out for the coin toss but he will be taking the field later as the stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma confirmed that Patidar will be used as an impact player tonight. It is a precautionary move from the RCB management having already qualified for the playoffs and they do not want to take a chance with their skipper who was just recovered from a blow to his finger which he received when RCB last took the field on May 3 against CSK.

Rajat Patidar will not be fielding and doing his captaincy duties until he fully recovers but will be used as an impact batter in his regular position at least for tonight's match against SRH.
RCB are number two on the points table with 17 points from 12 games and are eyeing the top-2 spots while SRH have already been eliminated from the competition and are placed on number eight with 9 points from 12 games.
