As the Cannes Film Festival draws to a close, Kannada actor Pranitha Subhash shared her joy with Bangalore Times, beaming about her first time at the event. “When I was in school, seeing Hollywood stars on the iconic Cannes stairs made me wonder how important they must be to get invited,” Pranitha recalled, adding, “It felt incredible and inaccessible for a girl like me.” She added that while she’s since graced major global events as an actor and entrepreneur, Cannes remained on her wish list — until now. When she found out she’d be attending the festival this year, she was thrilled.
“One of the first events I attended was a panel discussion at the India Pavilion , where I spoke on how India is now a force to be reckoned with on the global stage, especially in entertainment. I was happy that
Homebound proved exactly what I was talking about,” she says.
“I’m happy that today the festival has more representation across regions and has become more inclusive. I have attended many panel discussions and given many interviews at Cannes, and I’m glad my dream has come true. Cinema has made it possible for so many talents to come together from various countries, proving that art indeed has no barrier,” says the actor, who will be touring the French Riviera with her husband Nitin Raju before heading home.
