Gary Neville will not be able to attend Nottingham Forest's clash with Chelsea this weekend as he has been banned from entering the City Ground. Forest have reportedly dished out the sanction in response to criticism the former Manchester United right-back has directed towards the club's owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Neville took aim at Marinakis after the billionaire stormed onto the City Ground pitch and appeared to confront manager Nuno Espirito Santo in the aftermath of Forest's showdown with Leicester earlier this month. The home side had blown a 2-1 lead as they were held to a 2-2 draw by their east Midlands rivals. But Marinakis' actions were reportedly in response to a serious injury sustained by Taiwo Awoniyi in the closing stages of the match, with the striker later placed in a coma and forced to undergo emergency surgery after suffering a ruptured intestine when he collided with the goalpost.
"Scandalous from that Forest owner," Neville wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "Nuno should go and negotiate his exit tonight with him! The Forest fans, players and manager do not deserve that."
