Jitesh Sharma made a statement that could have landed him in trouble on social media after Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Lucknow. SRH registered a 42-run win over RCB. Chasing 232 runs, Bengaluru were dismissed for 189 in 19.5 overs. Jitesh led the team because of Rajat Patidar’s injury, but failed to inspire the players.

RCB’s loss has dented their hopes of finishing among the top two franchises in the 18th season, and now they will have to depend on the results of the Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans.

“We conceded 20-30 runs extra. They batted well in the powerplay overs and I don’t have answer to their attacking batting. We were rusty in the first 6 overs but our bowlers bowled well in the middle and death overs,” Jitesh Sharma said.

Jitesh then committed a blunder by calling it a good defeat. “Good to lose this game,” he added.

Former India player Ravi Shastri, who was questioning him, came to Jitesh’s rescue. “I know a defeat is good before the playoffs as it gives you a chance to correct things before the important matches,” Ravi Shastri said.

Bengaluru skipper understood what Shastri was trying to convey, and he corrected himself. “Losing is good at times as you get to analyse your shortcomings and work on them. We will move forward after this setback,” he mentioned.

He also spoke about Tim David’s hamstring injury. “I have no information about his injury as I was upset with myself after my dismissal,” he concluded.
