Additional Chief Secretary of the Department S.K. Siddharth, while issuing an important order on Friday, made it clear that if there is a disturbance in the operation of the scheme, now not only the Principal, but also many other officials of the district and block level will also be held directly responsible.

Government is serious about children’s nutrition rights

The government believes that the purpose of the mid -day meal scheme is not only to provide food, but also to reduce the nutrition of children, equality, hygiene and dropout rate. This is the basis of overall development of children and the government wants to implement it with full seriousness.

Complaints were being received continuously regarding quality

According to the report of the Education Department, complaints were being received from many districts that – there is a fraud in the presence of children. According to the fixed menu, food is not being served. The quality of food coming from the centralized kitchen is very poor. Food is being sent less than the number of students. This is not providing complete nutrition to children, which is contrary to the objectives of the plan.

Education department will now be strict monitoring

The order of the Education Department will ensure that the operation of the mid -day meal scheme in schools is transparent and in line with the rules. The department has asked all the District Education Officers to monitor it personally and make sure that there is no negligence at any level.
