Bollywood actor Mukul Dev , best known for his roles in films like Son of Sardaar, R... Rajkumar, and Jai Ho, passed away on Friday night at the age of 54. The news has sent shockwaves through the Indian film industry, with celebrities and fans alike taking to social media to mourn the loss of a beloved actor and friend.
Though the exact cause of his death remains unknown at the time of this report, close friends and colleagues claimed that Mukul had been unwell and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). A formal statement from his family is awaited.
Actress and long-time friend Deepshikha Nagpal was among the first to confirm the news, sharing a heartfelt Instagram Story with a throwback photo and the message, “RIP.” Speaking to IANS, Deepshikha expressed disbelief and sorrow, describing him as “a fantastic human being” and “an amazing actor.”
"We were friends beyond the screen. We had this phone group and stayed in touch regularly," she said, choking back tears. “But this time, he never mentioned anything about being unwell. I still can’t believe it—it feels like fake news.”
Tributes poured in from across the industry. Actor Sonu Sood tweeted, “RIP Mukul bhai. You were a gem. Will always miss you. Stay strong @RahulDevRising bhai.”

Vindu Dara Singh shared a lighthearted video of them together from 2024, writing, “Rest in peace my brother #MukulDev! The time spent with you will always be cherished. Son Of Sardaar 2 will be your swansong—spreading joy and laughter as always.”

Veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee took to Instagram with a poignant tribute: “It’s impossible to put into words what I’m feeling. Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young. Miss you meri jaan. Om Shanti.”
Tributes also poured in from fans on social media, sharing their favourite film moments with heartfelt notes of love while also offering their heartfelt condolences to the family in their time of grief.

Mukul Dev was the brother of actor Rahul Dev and was last seen in the Hindi film Anth The End. His contribution to cinema spanned over two decades, with memorable performances in both mainstream and independent projects.
He began his acting career in 1996 with the TV series 'Mumkin' and made his film debut the same year in the thriller 'Dastak', starring alongside Sushmita Sen . His career spanned over two decades, during which he appeared in numerous films across Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam cinema.
