On July 8, 2025, Glitch, a collaborative coding platform located in New York, will no longer host user accounts and online apps. The decision was confirmed by CEO Anil Dash, who attributed it on customer abuse, technical problems, and rising expenses.

Users may still see and download their project code until the end of 2025, but they won’t be able to host applications or have their accounts publicly visible beyond the deadline. Additionally, a mechanism to reroute project subdomains is being developed.

Current Glitch Pro users may continue until the service expires in July, but new subscriptions will no longer be accepted.

Glitch, which was first introduced by Fog Creek Software in 2017, became well-known for enabling developers to remix and distribute live web programs. Fastly later purchased it in 2022. The platform’s future is still questionable after this significant scale-down, even if certain restricted functions could still be present.
