Interestingly, many of those laid off had trained their replacements. CEO Satya Nadella has openly discussed the significant role AI now plays within the company, stating that AI is responsible for writing nearly two-thirds of the code across various projects.

The layoffs are not limited to junior coders; they also affect roles in product management and technical program management. AI is being cited as the primary reason for these job cuts, as Microsoft continues to increase its reliance on AI technologies.
