is the most popular staycation destination within the UK, with families flocking to its various destinations each year. There are a total of five locations in the UK including Sherwood Forest, Elveden Forest, Longleat Forest, Whinfell Forest and Woburn Forest - but which of the holiday villages is the worst?
The Telegraph's Amanda Hyde has stayed at every single destination. She visited each of the sites with her family and ranked the lodges, the activities on offer and the food available among other factors.
With prices reaching £1,649 for a four-night stay in the most basic two-bedroom lodge during the school summer holidays, Hyde gives her view on if the stays are worth the hefty price tag.
Of all the locations, it was the Elveden Forest, located in Suffolk, that came out as the worst, with a rating of only 39/60.
Elevdon Forest is known for its beautiful forest setting, huge range of activities and having the longest zip-wire in the UK. Aside from this, it is the only Center Parcs location to have its own flume ride as part of its Subtropical Swimming Paradise.
Despite its pretty setting, it is located nearby to the A11 and for that reason there is constant traffic noise in the background.
Hyde said: "Just don't imagine it feels entirely bucolic - there's a constant roar from the nearby A11."
She awarded the lodges only 5/10 and described the area as unkept.
She said: "Our 'New Style' Executive Lodge felt rather old, with rotting window frames, a broken bath plug and a dirty loo."
However, Hyde praised the activities on offer that included an adventure golf island in the lake and a pottery parlour with a serene setting.
Both the pool and spa were awarded 7/10 and she praised the "excellent" spa therapists.
The food and restaurants also gained an average of 7/10, and some of the spots even had robot waiters.
However, Peter F on TripAdvisor awarded his stay with five out of five stars and said: "The treehouse was fantastic. Private hot tub, sauna, games room etc. We enjoyed lots of activities (spa, badminton, squash, table tennis, football golf, football pool, archery, kayaking and swimming)."
However, he did note that they brought mostly their own food as "the restaurants tend to be overpriced, poor quality and average service in our experience".
Another reviewer, who stayed in the same type of lodge as Hyde, noted: "We have just returned from a midweek stay in Maple 553 which is an adapted 'New Style' lodge. They obviously use that term very loosely!!! On arrival we found it extremely tired and desperately in need of upgrading. Fridge and sink were very dirty and bathrooms were disgraceful. Center Parcs, you need to up your game, we will not be returning."
If you are wondering what came out on top, it was the Longleat site in Wiltshire that did it for Hyde, with a rating of 47/60.
Center Parcs' Longleat location is known for it's stunning nature, including the Giant Redwood trees, some of which are the tallest in Europe, alongside it's setting within a landscape of hills and valleys. The site is also the only one to have it's own free land train and this allows guests to explore the area at their leisure.
On TripAdvisor, Julie F left a glowing review, stating: "Really lovely lodge. Beautiful trees and flowers in grounds. All spotlessly clean. Lots of play areas for the children. The swimming complex is FANTASTIC!"
However, Robert S only rated the location as three out of five. He said: "Accommodation starting to look tired and dated. Standard of cleaning of villa not great. Bathroom cleanliness could be far better, had to go to customer services as we didn't have a bath plug, how can you clean a bathroom and not notice there is no bath plug. Swimming cubicles very poor and agree that they could do with a complete overhaul."
Hyde however, praised the beautiful setting, array of activities and the food at this particular site, stating that it had "something for everyone".
