The loyal audience of Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey, who were disappointed by reports of the show going off air, now have a reason to celebrate. The slice-of-life series, featuring Bharati Achrekar , Aanjjan Srivastav, Pariva Pranati , and Sumeet Raghavan in lead roles, was originally scheduled to wrap up on June 7. However, it has now been granted a three-month extension.
Producer JD Majethia confirms the development. “The news about the show ending was everywhere, but I had faith in it. We’ve now officially received an extension of three months,” he says.
Recalling the team’s reaction when the show was initially said to be wrapping up, he shares, “The unit was understandably disappointed. When the final shoot date was approaching, Sumeet asked for an extra day just to close things properly. And now, we’re back to filming for three more months. When I informed the team, it was received positively.”
Majethia credits viewer support for this decision. “A few days ago, I saw the hashtag ‘#SaveWagleKiDuniya’ trending. That response did not go unnoticed. Audience feedback does influence decisions, and we’re glad the show has got more time.”
The show, which began airing in February 2021, also features Chinmayee Salvi, Sheehan Kapahi, Deepak Parek, Amit Soni, and Anju Jadhav in prominent roles.
Most recently, Sudhanshu Pandey, who is best known for his portrayal of Vanraj in Anupamaa, appeared in a guest role. Talking about it, he says, “I play Rocky, a college friend of Vandana (Pariva Pranati), who is now a rockstar. It’s a light-hearted track that also conveys a message. I think the viewers will relate to it.”
With the extension in place, the makers will continue working on stories that reflect relatable, everyday experiences — something the show has consistently focused on.
