The OPSS, the national product regulator, says the product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and has been recalled from "end users", i.e. users of the product.

Customers who have bought the product are urged to stop using it immediately and return it to any Range or Wilko store where they can get a full refund or store credit, the retailers also say.

"If you know someone else who has purchased this product, please ask them to return it for a full refund or store credit," the pages add, directing shoppers with further queries to its customer care teams.

The notice concludes: "The safety and satisfaction of our customers is important to us, and we wish to thank you for your cooperation and apologise for any inconvenience."
