Bengaluru-based EV startup Oben Electric has announced a new O100 platformaimed at revolutionising the entry-level electric motorcycle segment in India. Developed entirely in-house at the company’s R&D facility, the O100 platform will underpin a range of affordable electric commuter bikeswith pricing expected to start below ₹1 lakh.
The O100 platform is designed as a modular and scalable foundationcapable of supporting multiple variants and battery configurations tailored to India’s diverse customer segments. Oben Electric promises that the platform is “future-ready” and built to allow seamless integration with emerging EV technologies and infrastructureincluding smart features, enhanced charging capabilities, and regulatory upgrades.
Oben Electric’s Founder and CEO Madhumita Agrawal explained, “At Oben Electric, we design and build with intent – to solve real-world mobility challenges. Our new platform, O100, is engineered for India’s mass daily commuters and aims to make electric motorcycles a practical reality for every Indian.”
Agrawal highlighted the company’s vertically integrated approachwith critical components such as the motor, vehicle control unit (VCU), chargers, and proprietary LFP battery technology all being developed and manufactured in-house.
The O100 platform marks a strategic pivot for Oben Electric, which is now aiming to capture a significant share of India’s commuter motorcycle segment—a space long dominated by ICE two-wheelers. The platform is expected to play a key role in driving EV adoption across urban and rural marketsespecially among first-time buyers looking for low-cost, high-efficiency alternatives.
The company’s aggressive retail network expansion will also complement the O100 rollout. Oben Electric is currently present in several Tier I, II, and III cities and aims to have over 100 outlets operational by year-end.
Currently, Oben offers the Rorr and Rorr this electric bikes based on its ARK platform. These models cater to the premium urban segment. The O100-based commuter motorcycleshowever, will be more basic and functional, offering cost-effective mobility solutions for everyday riders. These bikes are slated for launch in the second half of 2025with more technical specifications and pricing details expected soon.
Oben also revealed that work has begun on a second new in-house platformunderscoring the brand’s long-term commitment to building a comprehensive EV portfolio.
