New Delhi: Mini India have announced a new scheme, where in benefits of any reduction in Cooper S’ price reduction will be passed to customers. It is named Price Protection Assurance and will be valid only for Mini Cooper S, which the brand produces in the United Kingdom and imports as a CBU.

Mini 3-Door Cooper S’ buyers will be eligible for any price reductions in the program for 180 days following the purchase. The program is accessible at every authorized Mini India dealership and is only available for a short time. The  Mini Cooper S, has a base price of Rs 44.90 lakh and comes with Classic Pack (Rs 50.45 lakh), Favoured Pack (Rs 53.40 lakh), and JCW Pack (Rs 55.90 lakh).

Vikram Pawah, president and CEO of BMW Group India, spoke about the scheme and noted that this price protection assurance scheme for Mini 3-Door Cooper S keeps them a step ahead in ensuring that customers receive the complete benefit of every big price reduction coming from the anticipated cost cuts. This should ensure that customers can purchase their Mini without giving much thought to the purchase.

This scheme though doesn’t cover the all-electric Mini Countryman as that is built at BMW Groups’s Leipzig, Germany plant.

Why price protection assurance scheme come into existence?

It had been reported earlier by Indian coach that some of the UK-based models made in the UK, imported to India, could see some price reduction due to the recently signed India-UK free trade agreement.

The agreement calls for India to lower its 100 per cent tax on “high-end cars” imported from the UK to just 10 per cent. However, there are still a number of things that the two governments need to clarify, which have made buyers hesitant to acquire. Customers are waiting to know exactly what it means for them, thus British brands like Mini and JLR are witnessing a decline in inquiries in India. Some of that uncertainty should be reduced by the Mini Cooper S price protection scheme.
