RCB icon Virat Kohli has scripted a unique world record in T20 cricket by becoming the first-ever player to smash 800 fours for a single team. The milestone came during RCB’s 13th match of IPL 2025 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Kohli, who’s been the face of Royal Challengers Bengaluru since the IPL’s inception in 2008, is also the only cricketer to represent one franchise across all 18 IPL seasons. In the high-octane 232-run chase, he scored a brisk 43 off 25 balls, peppered with seven boundaries and a six.
Needing six fours to reach the 800-mark, Kohli achieved it early in the fourth over by lofting Harshal Patel over mid-off. Here’s how the top players compare for most fours with a single T20 team:
Virat Kohli (RCB) – 801
James Vince (Hampshire) – 694
Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire) – 563
Rohit Sharma (MI) – 550
Luke Wright (Sussex) – 529
Unfortunately, Kohli’s innings ended in the 7th over as he was dismissed by spinner Harsh Dubey. He narrowly missed multiple milestones: 24 runs shy of 9000 T20 runs for RCB and one fifty away from the IPL record for most half-centuries, currently tied with David Warner at 62.
Despite Kohli’s fiery start, RCB suffered a late collapse, losing five wickets for just 15 runs and eventually lost the match by 42 runs.
