Shreyas Iyer provided an injury update on his index finger after PBKS lost by six wickets to DC on Saturday, which dented PBKS’ hopes of taking a pole position in the league. Iyer had already hurt his finger and contributed the most runs but obviously that wasn’t enough on the day.

In the post-match presentation, Iyer mentioned that his finger should be fit for their next game. PBKS will face MI on May 26 in the final group stage fixture before the IPL 2025 playoffs.

Shreyas Iyer Stated:

“We will look to come in with some strong plans. The finger (on injury concern) should be fine for the next game.”

Iyer clearly sustained the injury earlier, presumably in the match against RR. He had made 30 runs before he was unable to take the field for the second innings. Shashank Singh led the team in his absence. Iyer was still active as he was seen from the boundary giving instructions and encouraging his team.

Iyer also added:

“(On not taking the field) Reason is the finger. I don’t know what happened. I have to go and check what the issue is,”

Shreyas kept up his form in IPL 2025 with another fifty on Saturday- his fifth in 2025, the most he has made in a season. And he also made history as he is the first captain to take three different teams into the IPL playoffs.

However, despite being in form, Shreyas was not picked in the 18 man squad for the Test squad which was announced on Saturday. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar explained that there wasn't any room for him and that Shreyas must prove himself more in domestic cricket.
