This is happening after more than a decade when Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or R Ashwin are not part of the Test series. The three veterans have recently retired from Tests. There will be a lot of challenges in this series for 25 -year -old Shubman Gill, although under his captaincy, the Gujarat Titans is performing brilliantly in the IPL and holds the top position. But it has to be seen how successful he is in this long format of cricket. After being appointed as the captain, Gill also admitted that he would have a big responsibility with this post.

“When you start playing cricket, everyone dreams to play for the country. It is not just for India to play cricket but it is a dream to play Test cricket for a long time. It is very respectful for me that there is a chance to captain the Test. There is also a big responsibility with this post.” The BCCI has not yet shared the full video of the interview.
