Ashley Graham, the American model, elegantly posed - and owned - the red carpet of the MET Gala 2025. While she strutted the stairs, she was keeping a heart-thumping secret in her mind that she covered with jewellery, no one got to know.
What happened to Ashley Graham's outfit?In Graham’s Substack post on May 22, the model revealed that she accidentally spilt a drop of oil on her dress before leaving through her door for the event. The last-minute spill caused everyone on the team to think of a solution, except that the time wasn’t necessarily in her favour.
For the theme ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ the 37-year-old perfectly followed the theme in the figure-hugging grey and white pinstripe ensemble, catching up to the ‘Tailored for you’ dress code. To complete the MET Look, she wore the diamond-studded heels, kept her hair sleek and make-up minimal, and wore a pair of diamond earrings with a diamond brooch .
“I would say my only regret is that I didn't have more brooches. The reason I even had one brooch is because of my last-minute oil spill,” she said in her post.
“I yanked my shoes on and we ran downstairs (the elevator stopped working!) and tried our best to get it out. But sure enough, we all realized there's nothing that's going to help, except for some Dawn and a dry cleaner possibly,” Graham further explained.

Recalling the oil spill, Ashley stated that it was her bright idea to use “a diamond spectrum from Nikos Koulis as a brooch.”
