Eid al -da 2025: Eid-ul-Azha or Bakrid, one of the two biggest festivals of the religion of Islam, will be celebrated in June 2025. This festival is considered a symbol of sacrifice and faith. The day of Bakrid is celebrated on 10 Jill-Hija according to the Islamic calendar, which is the last month of the Hijri calendar.

This year, the date of Bakrid may be on June 7 or 8, but the final confirmation will be done only after the moon is seen. According to the Islamic tradition, all the festivals depend on seeing the moon, so the exact date of Bakrid will also be announced only after the moon is seen. However, this time the possibility of celebrating Bakrid is being expressed on 7 June.

When is Bakrid 2025?

Bakrid is celebrated every year on the 10th day of Jill-Hija Islamic month. In 2025, this day can be held on 7 or 8 June. The exact date of this festival will be fixed only when the moon is seen. Haj pilgrimage is also concluded in this month, and Bakrid symbolizes the closing of it.

Why is Bakrid celebrated?

Bakrid is also called Eid-ul-Azha, which means ‘Eid of Qurbani’. This festival is celebrated in memory of the examination of Hazrat Ibrahim (Alaihi Salaam), in which he decided to sacrifice his favorite son Hazrat Ismail (Alaihi Salaam) on the order of Allah.

As soon as Hazrat Ibrahim stepped into a step to sacrifice his son, Allah sent a goat in place of Ismail. This incident is considered an example of Allah’s Rahmat and Abraham’s loyalty. Since then, the tradition of sacrificing on this day started, which Muslims have been playing till date.

What is the importance of sacrifice?

Bakrid sacrifice is considered an important religious duty. On this day, people sacrifice animals like goat, sheep, camel or cow. It is not only a religious ritual, but also a symbol of dedication and devotion to Allah. It is believed that sacrifice gives spiritual purification and virtue.

How is the meat of sacrifice distributed?

The flesh of the sacrificed animal on Bakrid is divided into three parts:

  • The first part is given to the poor and the needy.

  • The second part is divided into relatives and friends.

  • The third part is kept for your family.

This system promotes the spirit of equality, cooperation and brotherhood in the society. The basic message of this day is that no one should be hungry and every person should be involved in happiness.

Social and spiritual importance

Bakrid is not just a religious festival, it also highlights the spirit of surrender, selfless service and humanity. On this occasion, Muslims offer special prayers in mosques and congratulate each other for Bakrid. This festival also works to connect society and increase mutual harmony.
