New Delhi, May 25 – Volkswagen is set to reintroduce the Golf Gti to Indian enthusiasts with the launch of its second batch after the initial lot of 150 units sold out within just five days of opening bookings on May 5, 2025. The overwhelming response has prompted the German automaker to bring an additional 100 units to the Indian market, with bookings expected to reopen later this year and deliveries anticipated in early 2026.

The Golf GTI, globally recognized for its blend of performance and everyday usability, has found a niche audience in India, signaling strong potential for the premium hot hatch segment.

Volkswagen is offering the Golf GTI with a premium, performance-inspired cabin. Key features include a GTI-branded leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, paddle shiftersa 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment systemand a 10.25-inch digital cockpit display – part of VW’s Digital Cockpit Pro suite.

The cabin experience is further elevated with features like a 7-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, wireless chargingand a panoramic sunroofmaking it not just a fast car, but a feature-packed one.

The Golf GTI’s aggressive styling stands out thanks to its honeycomb-pattern front bumperflanked by X-shaped fog lights. A red GTI badge on the front doors and a red trim strip running through the headlamps and brake calipers add a sporty touch.

The car rides on 18-inch alloy wheelswhile the rear gets smoked LED tail lampsa prominent roof spoilerand dual exhaust tipsenhancing its hot hatch DNA.

Power-Packed Performance: 0-100 km/h in 5.9 Seconds

Under the hood, the India-spec Volkswagen Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 265 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. This powertrain enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 secondsstaying true to its legacy as a performance benchmark in the hatchback category.

This potent combination of performance, premium features, and everyday practicality makes the Golf GTI an appealing option for enthusiasts seeking a sporty yet usable daily driver.

Price and Market Positioning

While Volkswagen has not officially announced the updated pricing, industry sources expect it to be in the ₹52 lakh range (ex-showroom). The Golf GTI will likely compete with models such as the MINI Cooper S, MINI Countrymanand other lifestyle performance hatchbacks and crossovers.

With the next 100 units being brought in via the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route, exclusivity remains a strong appeal for buyers, especially with demand outstripping supply in the first batch.
