There has been a ban on drinking alcohol for people in Saudi Arabia for 73 years. The diplomats living in Saudi are allowed to drink alcohol, but there are strict conditions for this. However, liquor sale has now been allowed at about 600 places in the country. These include Five-Star Hotel, High-end resorts, diplomatic zones and major tourism projects such as Neom, Sindala Island and Red Sea Projects. However, this feature will be only for international tourists and migrants. This ban on Saudi common people will remain in force as before.
According to the information, this decision of the government is part of the economic reform program. Its purpose is to reduce the dependence on oil. Apart from this, it is believed that this decision has been taken in view of the preparation of hosting big international events like 2030 expo and 2034 FIFA World Cup.
