Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Yellow Line is almost set to launch. It will go 19.15 kilometers from R.V. Road to Bommasandra.

The Railway Board granted approval for the new metro trains to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, or BMRCL. In a few days, a third train will be prepared. The delayed arrival of the autonomous trains prevented the metro line, which had been constructed some time earlier, from starting.

According to BMRCL, the metro may begin service in June, initially just on a small number of major stations.

The safety staff, known as the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), must inspect everything before the metro may operate. The majority of the paperwork have already been delivered by BMRCL, and the final certificate will be issued shortly. By the end of May, the safety inspection may take place.

BMRCL requires two additional weeks after the check to make any necessary changes. Therefore, the metro may begin service in mid- to late June.

This Yellow Line has great significance. It will link Electronics City and the remainder of the metro to south Bengaluru. However, the project experienced a lot of issues.

A significant contract to manufacture metro coaches (train components) was awarded to CRRC, a Chinese business, in 2019. They did not construct the plant that was planned to be built in India. There were significant delays as a result. BMRCL almost utilized their ₹372-crore bank guarantee after repeatedly warning them.

To address the problem, CRRC later partnered with Titagarh Rail Systems, an Indian business. Trains began to arrive after that, albeit they were still running late.

Two trains began trial operations (test runs) on March 7, 2024. BMRCL is currently finishing up the Yellow Line in preparation for its upcoming opening.
