CBDT has notified the income tax forms. With this, the process of filing income tax has started. Income taxpayers can file their ITR till July 31. If this work is done before the deadline, it is easy, because in the last few days, the burden on the income tax portal has increased and many times there is difficulty in filing the return. Most taxpayers take the help of a chartered accountant to file the return. But, you can also do this work yourself sitting at home.

Most taxpayers believe that filing income tax returns is a difficult task. But it is not so. The government has made this process very easy by introducing documents like Form 16, Form 26AS, AIS, and TIS, so by providing the necessary information, you can comfortably file your return in a few easy steps sitting at home. For this, you do not need to take the help of a chartered accountant.

The most important first step to file ITR is registration on the portal. Without registration, you can neither file returns nor view services like refunds, old returns, or notices. This is how you can register yourself…

Go to https://www.incometax.gov.in.

Click on ‘Register’ and select ‘Register as Taxpayer’.

Enter your PAN number and click on ‘Validate’.

Fill in your name, date of birth, gender, and residential status.

Enter mobile and email. A 6-digit OTP will be sent to both, which has to be entered within 15 minutes.

Confirm the details and set a password (minimum 8 and maximum 14 characters, which includes one capital, one small, one number, and one special character).

Click on ‘Register’ and then ‘Proceed to Login’.

By doing this, your registration will be completed.

This is the process of filing an ITR.
First of all, go to the Income Tax Department's e-filing portal www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, and log in.
On the homepage, select the "File" option, then select "File Income Tax Return".
After this, select the assessment year and click on the "Individual" option for online filing.
Select the ITR form type (ITR-1, ITR-2, etc.). If employed, choose the ITR-1 form.
Fill in the income and tax details.
You can verify the data with your salary slip, Form 16, and AIS.
Submit your ITR after cross-checking.
Do e-verification (with Aadhaar OTP or other option).
Don't forget to update the profile.
Before filing an ITR, make sure to update your profile - like bank details, communication address, and correct Aadhaar information. Wrong or incomplete information may delay the refund or reject the return.
