Tesla is now going to launch its much awaited robotaxi pilot program. The company’s CEO Elon Musk confirmed in an interview on Tuesday that the trial would begin in Austin by the end of June. This step is being taken at a time when Tesla is facing a decline in sales and regulatory pressure worldwide.
In a conversation with CNBC, Musk said that about 10 self-driving vehicles will be deployed in low-risk areas of Austin in the initial phase. There is a plan to increase this number to 1000 in the coming months. “We are only in the safest parts of Austin,” said Musk.
At this time Tesla is currently facing criticism not only due to the growing competition but also due to the political activities of Musk. The association with former US President Donald Trump has affected the company’s image. However, Musk said, “My plan in the White House is to be present for only a few days, whenever I can be helpful.”
Tesla’s entire focus is on robotax and optimus humanoid robot instead of low -priced electric car. Musk bluntly said: “In the long run, only two things will matter – autonomy and optimus.”
While Tesla has put great expectations in this technique on the one hand, on the other hand many companies have been out of this race due to strict regulations and high costs. Legendary companies like Alphabet’s Waymo are also under question.

NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is checking the full self-driving technique of Tesla, especially under bad weather and low visibility conditions.
Musk’s AI company Xai Tennessy’s Memphis is the world’s largest supercomputer cluster in the city, named ‘Kolosus’. It will use a million Blackwell chips of Nvidia. “As long as Nvidia is better than us, we will keep buying from them,” Musk said.
