Bipasha broke many stereotypes as she did that film and in an interview, she had admitted that it was quite risky. Infact, she confessed that everyone around her thought that she was crazy. She had confessed that it was not something a quintessential Hindi film heroine would do.
The 'Raaz' actress opened up about it in an interview with Hindustan Times, “Jism was the time when I was at the peak, and everyone told me, ‘You cannot do an adult content film. You are like the typical Hindi heroine who is now established in people’s hearts.’ And I said, I just like the story so much. I said I’ll go ahead and do it. Everybody stopped me from doing it. My manager thought I had gone crazy.”
The actress added that though it was a risky move, it changed the way female actresses were percieved and int also influenced beauty trends among women. "It worked for me and then things changed. Women suddenly were tonging their hair. They wore a bronze look. There was no stereotypical (thinking) that the woman can’t play the negative character. It all changed after that. So it’s been path-breaking for me. That has been one very important film,” she said.
'Jism' had also sparked a controversy between Ameesha Patel and Bipasha Basu. Ameesha had said that she would never do a film like 'Jism' because her grandmother would never approve of her doing such a role.
