Hundreds of road accidents occur every day in India, in which in many cases there is a huge loss of life and property. Keeping this in mind, vehicle manufacturing companies are now laying special emphasis on safety technologies. One of these important technologies is an Anti-Lock Braking System i.e. ABS. However, there are still some vehicles available in the market in which this facility is not provided.

What is the difference between ABS and non-ABS?

ABS technology prevents the wheels from locking during sudden braking, which maintains control over the vehicle. In contrast, in non-ABS vehicles, the wheels get locked when sudden braking is applied, which can cause the vehicle to slip and increase the chances of an accident. Therefore, the ABS proves to be safer in bad weather or emergencies.

What are its benefits?

Vehicles equipped with ABS have a very low risk of slipping during sharp braking. The driver can maintain better control over the vehicle and also does not change the direction. On the other hand, in non-ABS vehicles, there is a greater possibility of losing balance during braking.

How does the ABS work

The ABS consists of several devices working together such as a speed sensor, electronic control unit (ECU), and hydraulic control unit. When the driver applies the brake, the ECU immediately assesses the condition of each wheel and controls the braking power accordingly. This process happens so fast that the driver is not even aware of it, but it ensures safety.

If you are planning to buy a vehicle, then choosing an ABS-equipped model and giving priority to safety can be a wise decision. This technology not only increases your safety but also helps in driving confidently on the road.
