Royal Challengers Benglauru (RCB) have become the first IPL franchise to cross 20 million followers on Instagram, going above the likes of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians to become the most decorated of the lot. Having made it to the playoffs for the second consecutive occasion, the franchise will hope to end their title drought as well this year.
The Royal Challengers, which enjoys a massive fan base, are one of the few teams yet to win the IPL trophy alongside the Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants. RCB did reach the final on three occasions - 2009, 2011 and 2016 but lost to the Deccan Chargers, Super Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad, respectively. However, they will hope to get the monkey off the back this year.
Royal Challengers Benglauru suffered a thumping loss to the SunRisers Hyderabad
RCB's most recent game in IPL 2025 saw them losing to the SunRisers Hyderabad by 42 runs at the Ekana International Stadium in Lucknow. After conceding 231 in 20 overs, they got bowled out for 189 despite being 72/0 in six overs and 173/3 in the 16th.
The three-time finalists will take on the Lucknow Super Giants on May 27, Tuesday at the Ekana Stadium, hoping to bag one of the top two spots. The concern for RCB is also Tim David, who sustained a hamstring injury while fielding during the game against the SunRisers.
It also remains to be seen if seamer Josh Hazlewood is ready for the game.
