New Delhi, May 26, 2025 – In an effort to equip aspiring technologists and researchers with cutting-edge skills, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has announced a Short-Term Training Programme (STTP) in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The program will run from July 1 to July 19, 2025, and is being organized by the Department of Computer Engineering at the university’s New Delhi campus.

This 50-hour hybrid course, which includes both theoretical and practical components, is open to diploma holders, undergraduates, postgraduates, and PhD scholars. The hybrid format allows participants to choose between attending sessions online or in person, making the course highly flexible and accessible.

What the Training Offers

The training is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in AI and ML, two of the most in-demand fields in today’s tech-driven world. Participants will benefit from 20 hours of theory lectures and 30 hours of hands-on practical sessions.

What sets this course apart is the involvement of leading academic and industry experts. Faculty from premier institutions like IITs, IIITs, and international universities, as well as experienced professionals from the tech industry, will lead the sessions. Their insights and real-world experiences will give learners not just textbook knowledge, but also valuable exposure to current industry practices.

Course Modules: A Step-by-Step Learning Path

The course has been structured to ensure that participants with varying levels of experience can develop a deep and practical understanding of AI and ML. It is divided into five main modules:

  • Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Python Programming

Participants will start with the basics, understanding AI fundamentals and learning Python, the most widely used programming language in the field.

  • Data Science with Python
This module focuses on data analysis, data visualization, and data manipulation using Python libraries, equipping learners with key data science skills.

  • Machine Learning Algorithms
From linear regression to advanced models like random forests and support vector machines, students will learn how to implement and apply ML algorithms effectively.

  • Deep Learning for Computer Vision
Leveraging tools like Keras and TensorFlow, this module delves into image recognition, object detection, and other key computer vision tasks.

  • Deep Learning for Natural Language Processing (NLP)
This final module focuses on how machines understand and process human language. Topics include sentiment analysis, language modeling, and text classification using deep learning methods.

  • Who Can Apply?

This program is open to a broad audience, including:

    • Diploma students

    • Graduate and postgraduate students

    • PhD scholars

Applicants should have a basic understanding of mathematics, especially concepts related to algebra and statistics, as these are foundational to AI and ML.

Importantly, the course is designed to be accessible to individuals from various academic backgrounds—not just computer science—making it an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to enter or advance in the AI/ML domain.
