Priyank Panchal Bids Farewell to First-Class Cricket

Prominent domestic cricketer Priyank Panchal has officially announced his retirement from first-class cricket. He has made this decision effective immediately, bringing an end to his long and illustrious career. Panchal has been a key player for Gujarat in domestic cricket, having played many memorable innings that led his team to victory on several occasions. His technique, patience, and consistency have made him a reliable name in Indian domestic cricket. He also had several impressive performances for India-A, which earned him a spot in the national team, although he never made his international debut.


In a heartfelt post on social media, Priyank Panchal expressed, 'Growing up, everyone looks up to their father, considers them an ideal, and tries to impress them. I was no different. My father was a source of strength for me for a long time. The energy he provided inspired me to pursue my dreams, daring to aspire to wear the India cap one day, coming from a relatively small town. He left us long ago, and this was a dream I carried with me for almost two decades, season after season, until today. I, Priyank Panchal, announce my retirement from first-class cricket with immediate effect.'


Priyank Panchal's First-Class Cricket Performance

Throughout his career, Priyank Panchal played a total of 127 first-class matches. He scored 8,856 runs at an average of 45.18, including 34 half-centuries and 29 centuries. Additionally, he took 16 wickets in first-class cricket. Since 2023, he has not participated in any List A or T20 matches. In List A cricket, he scored 3,672 runs in 97 matches and 1,522 runs in T20s, totaling over 14,000 runs in his domestic career. Furthermore, he was selected for the Indian team during the 2021 tour of South Africa, stepping in for the injured Rohit Sharma, but did not get the chance to debut.
