Aldi stores have become scenes of chaos as shoppers wrestled each other to buy a £150 item that sold out in minutes. The supermarket chain launched its own reformer Pilates machine, a popular used by celebs like and Hailey Bieber.
Shoppers have already begun reselling the items on sites like eBay and charging more than three times the in-store cost. The Daily Express found one listing going for £394.
Shoppers are said to have queued around cornerslong before opening times. Some sales were said to be ticketed. One TikToker revealed a three-hour wait at stores and 5.30am wake-ups.
The chaos in one London store has gone viral. There were scenes of the item being snatched from shoppers' hands and loads of shouting.
The pandemonium was so intense onlookers could be heard saying "this is not happening" and "this is f***king ridiculous". Images have been shared on shoppers sitting on packing containing the machine to get first dibs.
Other images show people pushing each other out of the way. Remarks in a viral TikTok video include: "You were at the back of the queue", "I was holding it before you" and "People have queued up, wasted their morning queuing".
's version of the machine includes five adaptable resistance levels and adjustable height settings. It can be fold up, which makes it easy to move around or store away.
The dismount supermarket chain unveiled their product this month after having previously been sold in Australia this year.
Pilates Reformer kit can sell for thousands of pounds but Aldi's is selling their version for just £150. The Daily Express has contacted Aldi for comment.
