By appearing in two Malayalam blockbusters, L2: Empuraan and Thudarum, which brought in over Rs 100 crore in the same year, Mohanlal accomplished a unique feat. Even weeks after Thudarum’s April 25 release, audiences are still coming. The movie shattered many box office records as a result of the love and support it received from both critics and fans. Its popularity caused a few-week delay in the digital release. The streaming date for this criminal thriller has finally been revealed by Jio Hotstar, the company that owns the streaming rights. Starting this weekend, those who were unable to see Mohanlal’s most recent smash on the big screen may simply see it at home.
The streaming behemoth claims that Thudarum will be accessible online on Friday, May 30. In addition to its native Malayalam, fans may see the Mohanlal film in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada.
Because of his ancient black Ambassador Mark 1 automobile, Mohanlal’s character Shanmugham, also known as Benz, is the subject of Thudarum. Benz, who was once a film stunt assistant, now leads a modest life in the picturesque town of Pathanamthitta as a cab driver. However, when his automobile is connected to a police investigation, Benz finds himself in a difficult situation that completely upends his otherwise straightforward existence.
Director Tharun Moorthy previously discussed if he felt under pressure to live up to Mohanlal’s fans’ expectations in an interview with The Hindu.
“There was pressure,” the director said. Fortunately, however, most of his admirers supported my idea. On this account, I had communicated with his fan organizations. However, I had to deal with those who were deceiving the public with fictitious material and fan-made posters. All of us had faith in the material. We believed the movie would resonate with viewers, even if we did not anticipate this degree of popularity. Our goal was to build a story that flowed naturally from scene 1 to scene 92.
Shobana, Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, Sangeeth Prathap, and Krishna Prabha play important parts in Thudarum in addition to Mohanlal.
