Bengaluru: Shridhar Nayak, a popular face in Kannada television, passed away on Monday night (May 26) following a prolonged illness. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru.

The actor, known for his roles in several Kannada serials including Paaru, had been battling serious health issues for the past few days. Facing financial difficulties, Shridhar had recently appealed for help, which was supported by several celebrities and members of the television fraternity.

Despite being treated in hospital, his condition deteriorated, and he breathed his last late on Monday night. His health had worsened to the point where he had become unrecognisable due to the severity of his illness.

Fellow artistes had offered financial support and had hoped for his recovery. However, their prayers went unanswered.

Actor Nagendra Shaan confirmed the news on social media, stating, “Our fellow artiste Shridhar Nayak, who was struggling with illness for a long time, passed away at 10 PM. His mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at Baptist Hospital, Hebbal, until 11 AM on May 27.”

Shridhar Nayak was active in both television and films and was known for his impactful performances. He had acted in over 40 television serials including Paaru, Vadhu, Mangala Gowri, and Maneye Mantralaya. He was also seen recently in the Kiccha Sudeep-starrer Mac and had acted in Tamil films such as Raja Marthanda and Eesha Mahesha. His most recent work was in the newly launched serial Vadhu.
