Paramount Plus has just added a 'perfect' crime series that is many fans 'new favourite show'.

The initial three episodes of Wild Cards have recently been added to the streaming platform.

Viewers can access it either by subscribing through their own dedicated platform or via an add-on subscription through Amazon Prime Video.

Wild Cards is a Canadian police procedural series that certainly doesn't take itself too seriously. It's more akin to shows like High Potential or Castle.

The narrative begins with demoted detective Ellis, who has spent the past year in the maritime unit, while Max has been leading a nomadic life, expertly conning everyone she encounters.

When Ellis is assigned to transport Max following her arrest, she unexpectedly assists him in cracking a complex case that has baffled his colleagues. Consequently, the pair are given the chance to redeem themselves, with Ellis regaining his detective status and Max avoiding prison, reports .

The caveat? They must collaborate, each utilising their unique skills to solve crimes. For Ellis, this involves traditional, hard-nosed police work; for Max, it involves accents, schemes and generally charming everyone she meets, much to Ellis's frustration.

The duo will need to learn what it means to trust another person and perhaps truly become partners.

While the first season's new episodes will be released weekly for UK viewers, fans can look forward to a second season that has recently concluded in the US. The show has also been renewed for a third and fourth season, set to premiere in the future.

Despite its initial airing in Canada back in 2024, only a handful of professional reviews have been gathered on the website Rotten Tomatoes for the series. However, these few reviews have earned the series an impeccable 100% rating.

The show's easy-to-watch nature and leading stars seem to be a winning formula. Giacomo Gianniotti and Vanessa Morgan portray the characters of Ellis and Max respectively.

Gianniotti is known for his roles in Grey's Anatomy and Murdoch Mysteries, while Morgan has made her mark in Riverdale and Finding Carter.

One critic remarked: "Wild Cards is a light, airy show to watch if you don't want to think too hard."

Another stated: "It's not their diverging approaches to crime-solving that will keep audiences coming back each week, but instead the chemistry between the leads, which is by far the strongest part of the show."

Many fans echoed this sentiment, with one sharing online: "Wild cards quickly became my most favourite show on television. Ellis and Max just work so well together in spite of themselves! We need more television like this!".

One viewer shared: "Wild Cards is a charming crime comedy that's perfect for unwinding. It follows an unlikely duo: a by-the-books detective and a charismatic con artist. Their forced partnership leads to hilarious banter and creative crime-solving methods. While the plot isn't groundbreaking, the show's strength lies in its characters and their undeniable chemistry. If you're a fan of shows like Psych or White Collar, Wild Cards is definitely worth checking out."

Another viewer remarked: "I watch TV to be entertained, and Wild Cards hits the mark in every way. Good plots, Vanessa Morgan is KILLING it as a criminal and a cute smartass. A lot is somewhat 'canned' ie: angry police boss, demoted cop etc. but Max keeps the rhetoric and the action going (literally!!) Fun to watch and sit back and enjoy."

A third person concurred: "It's great. The right amount of drama, thriller and comedy all rolled into one. Great actors I hadn't really heard about but I reckon they are an excellent cast. I'd recommend this show definitely."

Wild Cards is streaming on Paramount Plus.
