Uttar Pradesh is undergoing significant development, marked by various projects including the construction of a new expressway. A notable initiative is the establishment of a Film City, strategically located near the Yamuna Expressway and the Noida International Airport.
Boney Kapoor, a prominent Bollywood director and producer, along with his team, has submitted a layout plan to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to kickstart the Film City project in Noida’s Sector 21.
According to reports, Kapoor emphasized that the construction will adhere to the stipulations outlined in the agreement. The initial phase of development will prioritize essential film facilities, such as studios and a film school, which are expected to be completed within three years.
The proposal encompasses a sizable conference center dedicated to film events and an Indian film museum. Additionally, it will feature a designated area for film festivals, complete with accommodations for guests and screening halls. The design also includes living quarters for artists and smaller studios, alongside expansive sound stages and a specialized studio for underwater filming.
Arun Vir Singh, the CEO of YEIDA, noted that the authority has mandated the concessionaire to secure approvals for the primary components—film studios and an institute—before commencing construction. A letter issued on May 2 to Bayview Bhutani Film City Private Limited specified that construction must commence within a year of signing the concession agreement, which took place on June 27, 2024. Failure to comply will result in a daily penalty of ₹1.5 lakh until construction begins.
Singh further stated that any alterations to the layout plan will not be sanctioned. The authority has instructed the concessionaire to obtain necessary approvals for detailed parking, landscaping, and horticultural work, and to develop the project in phases.
