A Chinese takeaway in London has surprised foodies with the prices of popular dishes from previous years. The vintage menu surfaced when a man discovered it among his father's belongings. He estimated it dates back to the late 1970s or early 1980s, when his father lived in

A photo of the menu was posted on Reddit, astonishing users with its remarkably low prices-amounts that wouldn't even cover the cost of a cup of coffee in the present day. The photo shows that a meal for two, including roast duck, fried chicken, pork, prawns, fried rice and prawn crackers, would only cost £1.25, reports .

The restaurant, known as On Lok, was located in Leyton, northeast London, and closed recently after operating under a different name.

A serving of chips, which is listed under the "vegetables" section, costs around 5p.

The nostalgic discovery left modern food lovers reminiscing about the era of ultra-affordable meals, with one noting that ordering every item on the menu would have cost under £20.

The Reddit post read: "Found an old Chinese food menu behind a filing cabinet. Wouldn't mind a 50p set these days."

The menu featured soups for just 18p, noodle dishes at 15p, curries starting from 20p, and specialties like fried beef in oyster sauce for as little as 30p.

Many social media users quickly responded to the post. One of them wrote: "Have you told the British Library about this rare manuscript?"

Another one said: "The prices, omg!"

A third user replied: "Why is everyone ignoring the lobster in the room? When was the last time you saw lobster on your local takeaway menu? My last time was never."
