ECB said in a statement on Tuesday, “England and Surrey fast bowler Gas Atkinson has been ruled out of the upcoming one -day internationals against the West Indies due to a stretch in the right hamstring.”
Atkinson suffered an injury to England’s Test victory against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge last week.
He will now go through a rehabilitation period under the supervision of England’s medical team.
No other player will be included in the ODI team.
The team will be commanded by the newly appointed white-ball captain Harry Brook. Brook was declared the new White-Ball captain of England after Jose Butler resigned from the post due to disappointing performance in the ICC Champions Trophy and not won. Butler also highlighted England’s failure in saving the ICC Cricket World Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup title.
Brook will lead both ODI and T20 teams in his first series as captain. The match against the Caribbean team in England is expected to be quite exciting.
